The Full Story

Our Story

Community Cares of Delaware was born out of a simple but powerful idea: every family deserves to

feel at home. What began as a small effort to help families in Wilmington access basic furniture and

essentials has grown into a statewide movement of compassion, action, and community connection.

From toy drives to furniture banks, school giveaways to seasonal family events, Community Cares

stands at the intersection of need and hope - filling in the gaps and lifting up the people who need it

most.

We are not just a nonprofit - we are a community that cares.

Mission & Vission

To restore dignity and hope by providing essential support and resources to Delaware families,

helping them turn houses into homes and challenges into opportunities. We envision a Delaware

where no family goes without, where communities uplift one another, and where love and support

are not luxuries - but a given.

Founder's Message - Alexander Hackett

As someone born and raised in the heart of Wilmington, I've seen firsthand the challenges our

families face - and I've also seen the power of showing up. That's what Community Cares is all

about: showing up for the people who are too often overlooked.

This organization came from my own desire to not just talk about solutions - but be the solution.

Whether it's helping a mother furnish her first apartment, giving kids the tools to start the school year

strong, or simply providing joy during the holidays, everything we do is rooted in love, service, and

purpose.

I believe in the people of this city. I believe that when we work together, when we care together, we

can build something lasting - one family, one act of kindness, one foundation at a time.

Let's keep building.

With love and purpose,

Alexander Hackett
